As You Wish....

Well dammit. Every time I go on hiatus (due to lack of subject matter or alcohol) I get several guestbook notes exhorting me to write. My apologies to the readership. I have been exceptionally busy with a small case of insanity over the last few days and it's all I can do to stand on my head and type using my straight-jacketed hands.

so in my inimitable style I bring to you :-

Things that are just really crap in the world right now.

The Doors (minus Jim Morrison + Ian Astbury - late of "The Cult")

WTF guys? Why on earth would you reform one of the seminal bands of the late 60's/early 70's without the frontman? Obviously Mr Mojo Rising's untimely death may have a small part to play in the problem but in heaven's name why? WHY? Did the Jimi Hendrix Experience continue to play after his death? No, no and thrice no! F*cking money grabbing assholes. Just accept that Morrison was the sole reason you ever earnt a paycheck and go back to working in a shoe shop.

WAR

You may have noticed this in passing. Whilst I do do not disagree with the necessity of removing the regime in Iraq I would like everyone to be clear about why it is happening. Lies, disinformation and propaganda are no way to convince the population of the moral rightitude of your cause. I also feel this signals the death knell for true Democracy. How many of you have been asked your opinion? What makes the leaders of our nations wiser than you or I?

There are several other minor events taking place worldwide right now that eclipse the inevitable war. May I point to North Korea as an example. If you dont know what is happening in the world, bear in mind you have no recourse when your opinion is steamrollered by the rulers of your nation (this goes for all peoples).

Things that are just great in the world right now.

Togetherness

Strange as it sounds but it really does take a disaster to see a people in a great way. Shortly after 9/11 the world stood still and watched an entire nation mourn. And then they helped. The Shuttle disaster, whilst distressing for family and friends (and technophiles) again proved that people who mourn together can triumph over any adversity. Hopefully the indomitable human spirit will carry us through the future trials ahead of us.

Me Being Totally In Love

Yeah well. Sue me. In my opinion she is absolutely as perfect as it is possible to be. We talk like best friends, make one another smile without effort. She proves the existence of fate. Only fate could create so wonderful a person, so well matched to me. And then place her several thousand miles away. Well...I never voted in the particular Deity responsible so I have no real answer to that.

P.S. It appears that Bren is in fact Fate Incarnate on this Earth so I ask you all to bow down and worship at her feet. And she also lost 5lbs! Go Bren/Fate!

Well. Nothing special in that particular entry. No doubt I shall swing by again at some unspecified time in the future with more strange crap. Hope you are all well. Remember me to Uncle Bertie and Aunt Ella.

Much love,

Your wayward child, Paul.

PS - Go and watch The Princess Bride if you haven't already. It's better than the Dark Crystal even...
